Collodion

Collodion is a photographic process discovered as early as 1850, the first use of which was attributed to Frederick Scott Archer in 1851, this photographic process was dominant from 1850 to 1880.

The process is quite technical and involves 4 key steps: Collodion, silver bath, development and fixer.

This technique is quite similar to the traditional Argentic process (Silver bromide gelatin), but the biggest difference is that the photo is developed while the solution is still wet, which leaves the photographer between 10 and 20 minutes to take and develop the photo.

At Studio 1851, I invite you to revive this process through portraits alone or with several people (up to 4) with atypical sessions and leave with a unique photo on glass.
